Dragonfire Overture
The dragon has throughout history and in many cultures been associated with power, majesty, fear, mystery, and legend, just to name a few. The dragon depicted in this composition is that of the European dragon versus the Chinese. In this sense a fierce symbol of power and fury is evident in the music.

The Sword of the Valiant portrays the triumphant return of the gallant knight who with his sword led the charge that defeated the invaders that thought to have his land. The battle was won and the land remained free. (2:10)

Imagine the hilarity that must ensue as the troll attempts to keep time in the dance having no sense of rhythm whatsoever. We've all seen (or know of) people just like this! Czech's in the Mail Polka was written as a tribute to the German-Czech style polkas that the composer became so familiar with during his undergraduate years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He was a regular member of a local polka band and played the occasional dance job" on numerous weekends. (2:30)

Loki is said to be the step-brother of Thor and a constant source of irritation to all with whom he comes in contact. The music therefore depicts his playful yet devious nature. In this work the composer tips his hat to several of his favorite composers including Prokofiev, Richard Strauss and Claude T. Smith.
